How to Get More Customer Reviews

Customer reviews are some of the most important marketing content a local business can have.  In fact our 2021 Moms Online Survey found that 90% of moms say customer reviews influence their decisions when it comes to evaluating local businesses for their kids.

But many businesses struggle to consistently gather reviews. The good news is, the best option for getting reviews is the easiest...just ask.

A 2020 survey from Brightlocal found that 72% of consumers that were asked to write a review for a local business, did so.  Most people, especially parents, are happy to help your small business if you tell them how.

The key is to be very specific in your request and make it easy for people to follow through and leave the review with just one click.

So where should you be focusing your review efforts? When it comes to reviews for local businesses, Facebook and Google reign supreme.

HOW TO GET REVIEWS ON GOOGLE

Google provides a direct link for businesses to share with their customers when asking for reviews. Simply log in to your Google Business Profile.

Click on the "Customers" button

Then click the "Reviews" option.

Click on the "Get more reviews" button in the upper right.  Depending on what device and browser you're using, what pops up next may vary but regardless, it should provide you with a link.

Now you can copy and paste that link into social media, into emails, post on your website, or use it anywhere else you want to communicate and ask for reviews from your customers.

HOW TO GET REVIEWS ON FACEBOOK

When asking for reviews on Facebook, the easiest way is to provide a link directly to your reviews page.  To find your unique link just go to your Facebook Business Page and click on the "Reviews" link.

Then copy the URL in the search bar above.  It should be  www.facebook.com/YOURBUSINESSNAME/reviews/

Now you can copy that link and paste it as we discussed for Google reviews above.

Moms want to help your local business thrive but they're busy people.  Ask them for a review (they won't mind!) and make it easy by giving them the exact link to use.

Once you start requesting reviews regularly, you'll generate a consistent flow of positive social proof from your happy customers that'll be sure to boost your online reputation and help with new sales as well.
