Ten Minutes to 10x Reach

You just created a great piece of content for your local business.  A video or written piece highlighting "3 Ways to Get Kids Into Reading this Summer" or "5 Ways to Cool Off in Springfield" and posted to Facebook. 

People are engaging with the content and you're loving the reach it's getting.  Give yourself a pat on the back. 

But wait!  Don't get too comfortable there.  Creating great content is step one, sending it out to the public on one platform or channel is step two but don't forget about step three - crossposting.

You spent your valuable time and effort creating that great article or list or video so be sure you're making the most of it.  Share it anywhere and everywhere you can.  Sure some people might see it more than once, but that's ok.

The marketing term for this is crossposting or sharing your content to multiple channels, platforms, or media.  You've already done the hard work, now identify the other places you can share. 

Some great options for most local businesses are:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Your website
  • Google My Business
  • Email
  • Sites like Nextdoor or Patch

Want to really get the extra mile out of your content?

Take that video you made and break it up into smaller pieces.  Pull out a great quote you said and post that as a separate social media video.

If you highlighted another local business or organization in your content, share your video or article with them and ask them to share it. 

Share a link to your content to local Facebook groups that might find it relevant or with other local organizations that share your target audience. 

Creating great content takes effort but when you look at all the exposure and reach you can get if you take the time to crosspost, edit and share it can be an investment worth making.
